Persistent nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain can be caused by hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a rare cause of these symptoms. Thyroid function tests should be conducted in patients with refractory gastrointestinal symptoms, especially if routine investigations do not reveal a cause.

I've had hypothyroidism for years and have taken Levothyroxine. In November 2014, my blood work showed my level was 20 and out of the normal range, so my doctor changed my dosage from 112 to 137. I've been taking that for 6 weeks now, and for about the last 4 weeks, I've experienced nausea, a queasy stomach, and reduced appetite off and on.

Nausea seems to be common, I was also prescribed Zoloft to loosen up BM's. My Dr. told me that it was an experimental treatment being used on thyroid patients, also because it lowered the serratonin levels in the brain and should give you a better nights sleep causing you to have more energy during the day.

Feeling Conflicted. If you don't take thyroid medications for your thyroid disease, you can experience a number of serious long-term effects.
