Definitely not too old. The median age of medicine is moving away from 17 and 18 year olds. Many graduate programs will have many mature aged students (some programs even have a median age of 28), and even have people who are 40.

28 is not too old to study medicine. You will be working whilst an internship and in post-graduate training, although juggling career, training, studies/exams and family relationships can be tough. TIMELINE of a medical career: 3 years of an undergraduate degree.

Is it too late to become a doctor? Not according to today’s medical students . While 22 would be considered the typical age for an incoming medical student, the annual Matriculating Student Questionnaire from Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), shows that 68 percent of students who began their medical studies in 2020 were 23 or older. Also bear in mind that certain programs will average an older entering class.

yes you can apply to med school with any major as long as you have the required prereqs, etc. and why i said "incase med school doesnt work out" is in case you don't get in during your first application cycle..then you will need a backup plan, such as a job, research classes, or special masters program, etc.

So my friend it is not too late to study medicine at 25. There is an advantage of maturity to studying medicine at that age. It was one of the reasons NUC advocated for medical students to spend 11 years in school i.e 4years basic science course and 7years med school.

posted 2013-Jul-7, 9:35 pm AEST. Never too old, as long as you can juggle the study and family responsibilities and have the money to go through it etc. The good thing about studyin medicine is that, so long as you're reasonably well placed in your class, you've got very good career prospects.

Ermmm, I guess technically you aren't too old to get into a medical course. But, at 31 with the 7 years of education you are looking at 38 until you should even consider a family I would guess :/. 0. reply. lori79. Badges: 0. #3. Report Thread starter 12 years ago. #3.

Deleted. No it is not to late to start in med school at 25+, some nurses make the switch to med school late and other people also make the change late in life. If you have the funding and the grades to get in go for it if it is what you want to do. Reply With Quote. 2014-02-04, 11:19 AM #102.

Many medical schools have no “expiration date” on prerequisites, so investigate how many of your college courses would count for your desired program, and retake any course (or take one at an even higher level) if advised to do so. Treat studying for the MCAT (and studying in medical school later) as a matter of working smarter, not harder.
