Although many people consider their pets part of their family, you cannot use your own health insurance to cover your dog. Your health insurance is for you and your human dependents, not your dogs, cats, fish or other pets. With that said, if you are concerned about medical expenses related to your animals, you could always purchase pet health insurance. Keep your furry friend healthy. Does pet health insurance cover pre-existing condtions? No pet insurance will cover a pre-existing condition. No subscription-based community alternatives will cover them either. Your pet health insurance policy will cover a wide range of things, from ear infections to diabetes. You’ll also have coverage for a range of hereditary and congenital conditions, from elbow and hip dysplasia to hernias and eye disorders. But it’s important to note that many of these may fall under the category of pre-existing conditions.
